THIS LEFT HAND DRIVE MK1 CAPRI WAS BUILT AT THE FORD COLOGNE FACTORY IN GERMANY IN 1972 AND EXPORTED NEW TO THE USA. THIS STATEMENT IS VERIFIED BY THE MALLIBU CAPRI CLUB, CALIFORNIA.
IT SPENT SOME TIME AS A FAMILY ROAD CAR AND THEN CONVERTED INTO A NATIONAL RACE CAR. IT IS TOTALLY RUST FREE. IN 2011 THE CAR WAS IMPORTED INTO THE UK AND PURCHASED BY CAPRI AFICIONADO TERRY NICHOLLS.
IT NOW BECAME THE SUBJECT OF A 5 YEAR PAINSTAKING PROJECT TO RE CREATE A REPLICA/RECREATION OF THE WORKS CAR THAT FINISHED 11TH OVERALL AT THE 1972 LE MANS 24 HOUR RACE. THAT CAR, NUMBER 52 WAS DRIVEN BY GERMAN LEGEND DEITER GLEMSTER AND THE SPANISH DRIVER ALEX SOLER-ROIG.
THE BODYWORK, PAINTWORK AND LIVERY IS COMPLETED TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD. IT IS COSMETICALLY IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY TO THE WORKS CAR. A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME HAS BEEN SPENT SOURCING NOW HARD TO FIND PERIOD ITEMS. THE DETAILS ARE ALL PRESENT AND CORRECT, SUCH AS BADGES, TRIM, CHROME AND DECALS.
